Glass artist Jochen Holz. will be talking about his solo exhibition at Flow gallery titled ‘Superficies’. Holz explores the rarely practiced glass blowing technique of lampworking. The work focuses on the materiality of borosilicate glass and a unique process to produce rich changing textures and complex shapes using custom made tools and surface patterns.

Jochen Holz


Jochen Holz trained as a scientific glassblower in Germany before his undergraduate studies at Edinburgh College of Art and his MA at the Royal College of Art in 2003. He set up his studio in East London, specialising in lampworking borosilicate glass. Jochen is one of very few glass blowers using this technique purely for its creative and artistic potential. His work ranges from functional tableware, one-off pieces to sculptural neon lighting.
